San Diego State cruised to a 32-point victory against Long Beach State Wednesday night to start the season 1-0.
The contest was a close two-point game until midway through the 1st Half and then the Aztecs quickly broke away by dominating at both ends of the floor. Junior Guard Miles Byrd knocked down back-to-back threes, leading SDSU with 11 points in the 1st Half and the team broke it open to a 15-point lead to end the 1st half 40-25.
The Aztecs were without their 7-foot Center Magoon Gwath, and their defense held Long Beach State to even fewer points in the 2nd Half, just 20 points in the 20-minute span.
Only one player for Long Beach State scored more than 7 points.
Petar Majstorovic, a transfer from SYRACUSE, led the way for the visitors with a double-double scoring 13 pts & pulling down 10 rebounds.
San Diego State had five players in double figures and were led by Miles Byrd, 13 points 8 rebounds 3 assists and Elize Harrington 13 points 3 rebounds 4 assists.
